What is the purpose of removing shirt on the victim? What if the person who will be providing the CPR is a male and the victim is a female, is there a protocol to follow in this kind a situation?
The purpose of removing the shirt is to get a clear view of the chest area, to remove any obstructions and properly place the pads. When you remove the shirt you get a clear view to see if the patient has any medical tags, pacemaker or body hair. Regardless of male or female, the protocol remains the same. These are life saving guidelines that were placed and is far more important than the patients privacy.
